A Modern Spin on Gaelic Literature

It is a rare graduate program that allows participants to delve into the history, culture, and literary world of Gaelic studies…

  • A program that encourages students to venture through pages of texts spanning over 1,200 years…
  • A program that incorporates mythology, history, and studies of the Irish diaspora, with the hopes of better understanding the written works of some of Ireland’s greatest writers…
  • A program that gives students the opportunity to explore the Gaelic literary tradition without any prior knowledge of the Gaelic language…

It is rarer still to find such a program that students can complete from the comfort of their own homes.

The new Online MA in Gaelic Literature, run by the Department of Modern Irish at University College Cork, is one such program. Taught in English, and offered on a full-time (one year) or part-time (two years) basis, the Online MA in Gaelic Literature allows students to choose six classes (within the set curriculum) to be completed online over the course of the first half of the program. Following the completion of the taught classes, students complete a thesis paper on a topic within the academic realm of Gaelic literature.

The costs of the program are as follows:

Costs: 2016/17

Irish/EU €4,800 FT; €2,400 PT

Non EU €7,000 FT; €3,500 PT
