Finals is most certainly a frightening word in most student dictionaries, but for all of you journeying though this semester’s study week, it doesn’t have to be.
Read on for a few study tips from UCC International (illustrated with the help of some of our favorite fictional characters).
- Give yourself plenty of time
Unlike Hermione Granger, none of us have the power to turn back time to get that extra study time in before exams. Be sure to plan ahead and make studying for finals a priority.
- Drink plenty of water, fuel your body with healthy food, and factor in a workout when you can
Snacking on chips, cookies, brownies, etc. is tempting during study week…after all, it’s good to reward yourself for some hardcore studying! However, it’s important that you don’t fall into this trap. Hydrate. Snack on healthy foods heavy in protein. Go for a run. Your body and mind will thank you!
- Don’t work in clutter
This one is simple…if your space is cluttered, you mind will be cluttered. Make sure that your study space is neat with everything you need in reach.
- Organization is important
This kind of goes along perfectly with the last tip. Organize everything: your notes, your calendar, your breaks, your meals. Stick to your schedule and you won’t go wrong!
- Don’t listen to naysayers
There will be people everywhere telling you that the material is too difficult, that there’s not enough time, that you should all just give up and imbibe copious amounts of liquid courage. Your mission: don’t listen to them. You’ve got this.
- Schedule time for breaks
You’re working hard, so your brain will need breaks to recharge. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.
- Get plenty of rest
This one sounds pretty obvious, but it’s shocking how many people forget to sleep enough while preparing for exams. If you aren’t rested, you won’t be able to academically perform.
There you have it! Best of luck with your studies…you’ve got this!!!
