A UCC Delegation led by President Michael Murphy and the Registrar and Senior Vice-President Academic, Professor Paul Giller,  traveled to China recently to visit existing partner universities, sign cooperation agreements, and discuss plans for the exchange of students and staff with a number of higher education institutions including Shanghai University, South China Normal University, Shanxi University, Qufu Normal University and Beijing Film Academy.

Two members of the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, Professor Jackie Sheehan of Chinese Studies and Dr Armida de la Garza of Digital Humanities, were part of the Delegation. On 17 March there was UCC representatives in both Beijing and Shanghai at St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Visitors were lucky to see The Great Wall lit green, as a demonstration of the friendship that links China with Ireland. We hope UCC’s visit has further strengthened this bond of friendship!
