Closing remarks

The placements focused on a wide range of issues, from human rights to agriculture. This year, students worked in India, Bolivia, Uganda, Malawi, Ethiopia, Palestine, Thailand, Tanzania, Washington DC, South Africa, Indonesia and Kenya.  Some of the themes touched upon during the placements were:

·       protection of human rights defenders;

·       watershed management;

·       child malnutrition;

·      prevention of human trafficking;

·       the role of traditional customs in development;

·       increasing the food security of smallholder farmers.
