Ireland is green everywhere but in Cork – even in the sky?!

Get the first look at a unique floating garden about to make its home in Cork City Centre very soon! The ‘Irish Sky Garden’, an avant-garde design by Irish gardener, Diarmuid Gavin inspired by the film Avatar won him a gold medal at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show in London. It will be a permanent structure located next to the Mardyke arena, an area our UCC students know very well and should attract many visitors from around the world! It is only fitting that Cork will be the gardens new home as it contains much fauna and flora which is characterised by the Munster region. Part of the garden will be elevated up to 82ft by a crane and is sure to provide an unforgettable horticulture experience for visitors. Judging from the huge response already, it appears there will be many who will brave it!
