Loving Liberty: Frederick Douglass in Ireland

In collaboration with The Embassy of the United States of America and The College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Studies, UCC celebrates African-American History Month this February, to honour the life of Frederick Douglass and to celebrate the contributions of African-Americans around the world. Nadine HallDirector of Diversity at Greenhill’s School in Ann Arbor, Michigan gave a lecture entitled, Loving Liberty: Frederick Douglass in Ireland in UCC’s Glucksman Gallery. Dr. Lee Jenkins, lecturer in UCC’s School of English reminded the audience of Douglass’s historic visit to Ireland, and to Cork in particular, that made such a positive impression on one of the foremost leaders of the abolitionist movement in the US.
