Chinese New Year…UCC style!

It’s the Year of the Rabbit and for those born under this sign, you are wise, serene and classy. For the rest of us, we’ll be looking forward to some calm after the ferocious Year of the Tiger gone by! Either way, we can all celebrate the coming of the Chinese New Year at next week’s Chinese Film Festival and Gala on campus. There are more than 300 Chinese students studying here at UCC and we are happy to be a part of their biggest yearly celebration. Emma Connolly, UCC coordinator for International Student Recruitment told the Irish Examiner, “The new year is the most important day of the year for Chinese people — it is the equivalent of Christmas for Irish people, very much a family time, and food plays a big part in the celebrations.” Next week’s events include performances by musicians and dancers from China as well as UCC students. The date:9th February, the place:Aula Maxima, the time:18:00-19:30. Hope to see you all there!
